EXTERIOR
Guards red with black cloth interior is a classic, desirable colour combination for an air-cooled Porsche of this era. On close inspection the paintwork is in good presentable condition for a car of this vintage, with a deep glossy shine. The black trim around the vehicle is also in good order with no damage to be found to the front or rear bumpers. Being the Sport variant, this example comes equipped with sports dampers, sports seats, as well as the legendary whale tail rear wing and front lip spoiler.
INTERIOR
The electrically adjustable sports seats were a factory option as part of the ‘sport pack'. The cloth centre is upholstered with ‘Porsche' logo material, all of which is in good order with no sagging or damage, as are the bolsters of both front seats. The folding rear seats are also in good condition with no damage. The interior space has a lovely aged patina to it without ever feeling tired. Despite the mileage the interior remains in good condition throughout. The only non-original item to be found is a Sony Cassette player.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
This Carrera is in fine mechanical fettle, which is immediately evident after a short drive. Everything feels tight and responsive with good power delivery and sharp handling. Since 2009 this example has been solely maintained by marque specialist Chris Turner. The most recent service was carried out less than 1k miles ago at 133, 377 miles.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The Carrera Sport sits on a set of 16-inch Fuchs forged alloy wheels, finished in silver with matte black centres. On close inspection there are a couple of light marks to note but nothing to detract from the overall good condition. The wheels are shod in a set of Continental tyres, all with ample tread remaining. All discs and pads were replaced 10k miles ago.
HISTORY FILE
First registered in September 1988 in Germany and supplied to its first owner Mr Hans-Gunter. The car remained in Germany until July ‘98 after which it was imported into the UK. Since that time it has had just four keepers in the UK with three previous keepers in Germany.
Within the history file is a Porsche driver's manual, UK and German registration documents, MOT certificates dating back to 1998, along with a stack of invoices for various parts and work carried out over the years.
