EXTERIOR
This 3. 2 Carrera Targa is presented with a no nonsense black on black colour combination, a striking yet smart appearance for a car of this vintage. On close inspection the black paintwork holds up very nicely. There are some minor stone chips towards the front of the car but nothing unexpected for the age and mileage. This particular example comes with the original folding targa top as well as a US fiberglass panel; both remain in fine condition. A subtle aftermarket rear spoiler is currently in place, however the original whale tail is still present with the vehicle.
INTERIOR
The black leather sports seats remain in good condition with no major wear to any of the deep bolsters. Both front seats are electrically operated. The dashboard is free from any unsightly cracks and all the switchgear works as it should. The black carpets are in good condition throughout and protected in the footwells by a set of over-mats. The boot area is clean and tidy, housing the space saving spare wheel. The only non-original item to be found is a Sony stereo.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 3. 2-litre powerplant fires up at first turn of the key, and idles up to temperature perfectly. On the road this example feels mechanically sound, tight and responsive, with good power delivery. The five-speed G50 gearbox remains feeling smooth and precise to operate, changing through the gears with ease. Since 2006 this example has been maintained solely by Chris Turner Porsche specialists.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The Carrera Sport sits on a set of 16-inch Fuchs forged alloy wheels, finished in silver with matte black centres. All alloys present nicely with only minimal light marks to be found. The wheels are shod in a set of Pirelli P600 tyres on the front and P7's on the rear. On test the brakes feel strong and sharp, pulling the car to a standstill smoothly.
HISTORY FILE
The Porsche was first registered in August 1989 and was sold through the supplying dealer, Glen Henderson Porsche Centre, Edinburgh. The current keeper has owned the car for the past thirteen years. Within the history file is a Porsche document pack containing all booklets and manuals, a stack of invoices dating back to 1996, a stamped service booklet, as well as an impressive collection of all mot certificates from 1992 onwards, verifying the cars mileage throughout its life. A spare key and alarm fob is also present.
