Lot 142 – VW Corrado National Hot Rod World Championship Winning Car

For those of you that follow the “National Hot Rod” Scene you should recognise this car. It is the Ex Colin White multi championship winning car, the famous VW Corrado that he won the World Championship with. Still in full National Hot Rod spec but now using an even more powerful “Toovey” built engine which is only three meetings old. This car was built, with no expense spared, to win and has consistently done so while with him and since. In the right hands it could do so again. Part of the “Steve Tandy Collection” this is the real deal. Below is a bit more of its history.
This famous VW Corrado was built by multi championship winning driver Colin White to compete with in the National Hot Rod Championship, using an “Autocross” space frame. He then won the Championship, this being one of the four times he was World Champion. It was sold on to James Jamison and then Jason McDonald, both of which again won various Championships with it.
At this point Steve purchased it, successfully transplanting a Ford V6 motor into it and winning his 2 world championships in this class. Now back running a “Toovey” tuned Vauxhall Red top Cosworth engine, 3 Speed Hot Rod gearbox and LSD, it is ready to race and win once more. The engine having only done a couple of meetings and a set up day, is still fresh.
So must be one of the most famous National Hot Rod Cars in the world. Available to buy at a fraction of the cost to build.
