Manufactured between 1993 and early 1998 and the pace car during the 1994 Formula One season, the 993 was the last air cooled 911 and as such is often referred to as the “last breath of fresh air that Porsche gave the world”.
Acclaimed as the best and most desirable 911 due to the fact that it encapsulated beauty, elegance and muscle in one package, the 993 provided a combination of old-school feel and modern usability, with great steering, great brakes and a wonderfully composed package. It is understandable therefore why it was referred to as “King Of Porsche” and “The pursists holy Grail”.
At launch, every part of its engine was new, with Porsche devising a new light alloy subframe with coil and wishbone suspension and making significant progress with the engine and handling whilst retaining what can only be described as an uncompromised driving experience.
