EXTERIOR
This glorious shark-nosed M635 is presented in Cosmos Blue metallic; a similar interpretation of the popular Silverstone Blue seen on more modern M machinery. Paintwork is consistent with a uniform lustre throughout; clearly a well cossetted example from new. The striking angles of this magnificent coupe are framed by a wealth of bright work that presents in excellent order. Lights, trims and surrounds are also in first class condition.
The structure of the bodywork is excellent and there are no usual signs of corrosion to any of the E24 weak spots.
INTERIOR
The electrically adjustable sports seats are in wonderful condition, with none of the usual wear to the bolsters or seat bases. The steering wheel and gear knob show minimal signs of wear while further assessment reveals an original Blaupunkt radio, a crack-free concave dashboard and door cards showing exemplary fit and finish.
The sculpted rear bench appears with an almost as new matte texture, while the boot space is unmarked and complete with spare wheel and tool kit.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Under the bonnet of the M635 you will find a wonderfully clean, unmolested engine bay housing the legendary M88 engine. The engine looks a work of art in its own right, with hoses and ancillaries in top order and nothing to suggest wear or neglect. The surrounding engine bay is in fine order with no signs of corrosion to the inner wings or chassis rails.
Being an M635, this example is equipped with the 5-speed manual gearbox which operates exactly as it should, changing through the gears with ease.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
This example still sits on its original unmarked 15 inch Metric alloy wheels shod in the correct TRX tyres displaying plenty of tread.
Brakes show plenty of life and swiftly scrub off speed as they should.
HISTORY FILE
The original service book denotes registration by Wolverhampton Motor Services on New Year’s day, 1986. The car would return to the supplying dealer for its running in service at 1, 101 miles.
WMS, Cheyne and Hungerford main dealer garages would look after the car to 31k miles before Autotrek of Purley assumed servicing duties on a further 9 occasions.
A total of 21 stamps adorn the book with invoicing totaling an incredible £15k in more recent years; a quite incredible paper trail of parts from Sheffield Sytner backs an incredible commitment to achieving the highest of standards.
