EXTERIOR
The Epsom Green paint is quintessentially British and is a marvelous colour for the Series II Discovery. The bodywork remains in excellent, rust-free order throughout. The remarkably low mileage of just 31k is well documented and very much consistent with the car's superb condition. As with the body, the underside is particularly clean and is a real testament to the salt-free roads on which it resided from new.
INTERIOR
The bright and airy cabin is equipped with seven full size seats, with the second and third rows folding completely for a vast loading capacity. The seats are upholstered in special grey Land Rover cloth and trimmed with leather on the bolsters. Given the low mileage there are few signs of wear to report. The remainder of the interior is very nice too. The dash, steering wheel, and switchgear retain good factory finishes and the unmarked carpets are still protected in the footwells by a set of Land Rover overcast.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 4-litre V8 ignites first turn of the key and idles up to temperature without fuss. With ample acceleration and plenty of torque on tap the Discovery provides a surprisingly refined drive, both on and off road. The four-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly through each of the gears, handling the V8's power perfectly whatever the setting. The under-bonnet area of this example remains in fine fettle. The engine has always been maintained at close mileage intervals and was most recently serviced at 26, 851 miles.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The 16-inch alloys present very well with only discreet curb marking to a couple worthy of note. They are finished in their original factory coat of paint and are shod in a matching set of rugged Yokohama tyres. The tyres have plenty of tread remaining and the brakes do a good job of pulling the car to a halt on test.
HISTORY FILE
Leaving the Solihull factory in early 2000 the Discovery was first registered in March that year. The history file is complete with the original Land Rover document pack containing all the original owner's manuals. Comprehensive service documentation is also present as is a fresh MOT certificate with no advisories. The complete maintenance record is detailed below.
