1954 STANDARD VANGUARD PHASE ll 4 DOOR SALOON 3 SPEED MANUAL O/ D BLACK –
A truly lucky find. This vehicle had been dry stored since the mid 1990’s shortly after being subjected to a full restoration. We were prompted to view and subsequently purchase the vehicle from its 4th owner (who had owned the vehicle since 1993).
Amazingly, supplied with the vehicle is the original “buff” logbook, green log book, current log book and previous MOT documents which substantiate both its ownership and mileage.
In 1991 this little Standard was featured in Classic car weekly following its in depth mechanical and body restoration. No stone was un-turned in the efforts of bringing her back to her former glory.
Now the vehicle (some 26 years later) is offered in beautiful condition. We have undergone a recommissioning process to ensure the vehicle is fully roadworthy and ready to be enjoyed. The usual areas of concern after a vehicle has been stood have been attended to such as the brakes, fuel system, engine/ ignition, transmission etc. The brakes were in need of love after a rear brake cylinder had failed. As a result of investigative work all of the brake cylinders were replaced and the brake/ clutch master cylinder were overhauled.
The car did not run when we first collected it but after refreshing the ignition components, carburetor, fuel lines and engine oil and coolant she started first time with PERFECT oil pressure and NO overheating issues whatsoever. The transmission is perfect following the overhaul of the master cylinder. The gear changes are nice and smooth and free of any whines or noises!
A beautiful example of a properly restored vehicle that has stood the test of time. Not to be confused with tired examples that have been put into their wedding dress.
