The Morris Marshal was made in Australia between 1957 and 1960. It was the British Motor Corporation of Australia's version of the large U. K. produced Austin A95/ A105 Austin Westminster and had the benefit of the powerful 2, 639 c. c. six cylinder engine that was to be of a similar nature to that which powered the Austin Healey sports cars of the era. Less than 1, 350 of these cars were produced, and this is the now the only one recorded in the whole of Europe. I had seen one of these cars in Auckland during my first visit to New Zealand in 1973, and always fancied owning one.
My car was recently domiciled in Van Diemans Land in Tasmania, and accordingly has amazingly strong and rust free bodywork. The engine is very powerful, and also very strong, but the car needs re-commissioning work and some other restoration work to make it road usable. Theoretically, it could be taken on the road, as the gears, clutch, brakes, etc., all function, and it does not need an M. O. T., by Law, but I would not advise it.
The pictures do flatter the car, and it should be seen in person. I am selling it only because I had a serious health diagnosis one year ago, and although I hope to be recovering, I do not wish to become involved in a restoration commitment for the Marshal.
It will be sold as a restoration project and not roadworthy at this stage. I have the VOSA approval, and all the necessary forms for U. K. registration, so with some general attention, it could be registered for use.
It could prove an excellent investment, and what a crowd puller for forthcoming rallies. Thank you.
