What a little cutie this is! A low mileage (35k) Standard Super Ten in Salvador Blue, its original factory colour. I have always thought that these little Standard 10s were great value. Their 948cc ohv engine is absolutely fine for tootling along the country roads (it's the same Standard-Triumph engine that went into the early Heralds) and the cute, rotund and cheery looks simply add to that period charm.
This old girl would appear to be an un-restored example in as much as, structurally, she is amazing. I see no signs of welding to the monocoque construction. Her floor pans are all original and, when you look underneath, the metal work all appears to be original too and very, very clean. Her engine bay and boot/ spare wheel well are just as good. She has a delightful period interior in dark red with white speedo pod and matching steering wheel and she drives most responsively. She even retains her original red rubber matting while screen rubbers - front and back - have been replaced. The windscreen has bee replaced by a laminated one.
Her production record courtesy of The Standard Register, shows that her build date was Friday, June 8 between 3 - 4pm. She is a Super Ten and has heater controls built into the dash.
All in all, a lovely example and offered at a price which under-cuts many Morris Minors, Austin A35s, Ford Prefects and so on, all from the same era. Cuteness abounds here and there are not many Super Tens about. She will have had paint work at some stage but I cannot even be sure that the whole vehicle has been painted. Paint aside, she is an un-molested survivor! There's no inherent rust or rot issues and, apart from some inevitable cosmetic defects here and there, she's in great nick. A Super Ten in super condition and at a super price. What's not to like?

All my classic cars are treated as the equivalent of motoring antiques. This one, for example, is 61-years-old. They cannot be compared to the wife's six-month-old Chelsea tractor and they are bound to come with imperfections, quirks and bits and pieces that will need attention even if it is some time in the future. They do however come with oodles of charm, appeal and are there to be loved like a family pet. If you are new to the classic car scene, then please bear all this in mind. Demand is outstripping supply these days and they don't make the old girls any more. So, make some allowances and drive away with a smile on your face!
