Description
This is an interesting example of the Series 3 Land Rover, fitted with the Rover V8 3528cc engine and developing around 200BHP. Supplied with an excellent history file including the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate of the Certified Copy of a Factory Record. Very different from the standard 86BHP engine that came with them when new. This is an early example, the Series 3 was produced from 1971 to 1985 and is pretty much in original condition although there has been recent attention to the paintwork and the door tops. The extensive maintenance carried out under recent ownership include the following enhancements and instructions from the previous owner.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TOUCH THE H. T. LEADS WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. It is a constant energy ignition system, the electric shock may cause severe injury or worse.
The constant energy ignition sytem enhances pick up and acceleration, particularly in a straight line, not particularly useful for accelerating out of corners.
In 2014 there was a replacement fuel tank and fuel pipes, twin front spotlights fitted which are relay operated, replacement of all flexible rubber brake hoses, replacement of front door seals. In 2015 there was a replacement fuel pump and pressure regulator, in 2016 the car was used for the full year as a daily car and performed well. 2017 has seen a carburettor rebuild and the fitting of folding rear seats.
Certainly a good cared for example and possibly more suited towards someone looking to enjoy some off road challenges that could be completed a lot faster than any other Series 3 Land Rover. Not a car for an inexperienced driver and probably better that there is either a little mechanical knowledge or at least the desire to learn about the subject.
The car is offered today at a driveaway price of £7900 complete with a 12 month MoT which will list the advisories as required. There are quite a few bits and pieces that can come with the car alongside the full set of Haynes Manuals with the previous owners 'post it' notes to keep you on track.
Good Luck and Good Fortune usually follow the brave. Go for it and have some fun.
