As many of you reading this will already be aware, the B5 chassis, when combined with the incredible 1. 8T (AJL Large Port) engine and Quattro drive train, makes for one of the most rewarding and involving driving experiences available at this price point. The reason that this model is so appealing to enthusiasts is because it is a lot lighter than the mighty RS4 or S4 models which have very heavy and problematic 2. 7 Bi-Turbo engines sitting up front which are great in a straight line but not so good when the going gets twisty! Moreover, this KO3 equiped 1. 8T engine is one of the most tuneable units out there and also very reliable.
This particular car is completely standard with no aftermarket modifications and represents a great opportunity for somebody looking for a clean unmolested example. Once behind the wheel you will notice just how well the car pulls through all gears, very smooth and tight with precise steering and no nasty clunks or creeks. All belts changed in late 2013. The car had a major service in December 2015, using only the correct "Quantum" oil, fresh brake discs and pads and brand new LUK DMF and clutch!! The tyres are matching Michelin Pilot 3 all round. The oil has been changed every 5000 miles and the all important Oil Pick Up and Oil Pump have just been replaced along with the spark plugs, front arms and bushes then fully laser aligned. Recent works to note are, Gearbox rebuilt, Catalytic converter replaced, Exhaust replaced, new windscreen, front drop links, the list goes on.
