MOT until 11th October 2018 with no advisories. 300TDI engine. Just 85, 000 miles with history to support. Fully rebuilt and much time and effort spent to get to this standard.
We are delighted to present for this, this most exceptional 90, having been extensively rebuilt by the former keeper. This work is documented in terms of both photographs and bills, and has been very thoroughly done to a very high standard. This is the resume from the former keeper on what works was undertaken recently.
.... has been extensively worked on over the past 12 months and has undergone a complete nut and bolt rebuild. The Land Rover® was purchased having only 1 previous owner, with a full-service history and give or take 1 or 2, a full MOT history as well. The Land Rover® was owned and registered to a Lincolnshire farmer for 15 years of its life and came in it's original sun-kissed flat red paint, a few bumps and marks here and there, but an ideal base vehicle to restore. Due to employment circumstances out of control, we are having to part ways. This Land Rover® has been fully overhauled to a high standard and it was a pleasure to be part of it! We started by stripping the Defender back to its bare chassis to assess the situation. To our surprise, the original chassis appeared in miraculously good condition.
It was shot blasted and treated with Buzzweld automotive protection, and as well Dinitrol. All original stamps and serial numbers are clear and present on the chassis. Both axles were shot blasted and resealed and both the swivel housings replaced. Both the engine and transmission were steam cleaned to source any oil leaks, the rocker cover gasket, sump gasket and front and rear crank seals were replaced. A brand new OEM clutch was fitted, as well as new water pump, fuel pump, oil filter. A slight lift was wanted on the Landy, so a Terrafirma 2inch lift was fitted, with the correct parts to maintain the steering geometry of the vehicle, brand new fuel lift pump, braided hoses were fitted all round. New pads were fitted and also we upgraded to modular steel wheels that were black powder coated, and fitted with 4 brand new All-terrain 285/ 75/ 16 tyres. Each panel of the Land Rover® was taken apart by hand and repainted in Matte Nato Green - chosen as an anti-scratch and durable paint. The bulkhead, all of the doors, were all in excellent original condition and were retained. All panels were painted individually and refitted. All nuts and bolts for all panels, doors, bulkhead, chassis (just about everything) were replaced with stainless steel high-grade fittings.
As can be seen from the above, this is one special Land Rover®. To those "in the know", a late 300TDI (with no computers or electrical ECUs) with low miles, and a great chassis, are the Holy Grail of Defender ownership.... they were widely known to be the most dependable Defender, whilst being new enough to give good levels of comfort (power steering etc). This particular example is fitted as a 7 seat station wagon, with the capacity to get the whole family around. It also has the bulkhead removed with removal bar as commonly fitted to up specd 90s - this gives a better flow in the cabin, and increased room to the front driver and passenger.
Externally there are side impact protection bars to the sills, a tow bar with electrics, and those purposeful modulars. The paint looks great, and is very serviceable, being able to touched up and improved without the need for anything fancy. If, however, you have another colour in mind, let us know - it can be retailed in a colour of your choice for a nominal fee.
The underside is something to behold on this vehicle - shot blasted and painted axles, new brake lines and shiny exhaust - that smooth, black chassis in great order - it's one for the more fastidious purchaser, and an assurance that it should continue to last very well.
As one would imagine, this fantastic Defender drives superbly, being of both very low mileage and good previous home. There is a large document supporting all the works detailed, included in the sales pack.
If you are looking for an exception, low mileage, "no frills" Defender 300tdi that you keep for a long time, then this rare example is certainly worth considering....
