1997 Honda Accord Prodrive, ex-BTCC Lukoil Team fleet For Sale

History
In 1997 Russia's oil giant Lukoil decided to enter the world of motorsports and established Lukoil Racing team. A month later Lukoil requested the services of world's leading BTCC experts at Prodrive to construct 2 special vehicles to suit their purposes. Soon after Honda Accord PRO S/ T 9704 and PRO S/ T 9708 were constructed, tested and delivered to headquarters in Russia. Lukoil then decided to recruit the renown Russian driver Nikolay Bolshikh with numerous rally and a recent supertouring wins to pilot 9704 and the younger but very promising Dmitry Korolev to pilot 9708. The combination had stellar results as Lukoil Racing won the 1998 Moscow Open Championship with Bolshikh and Korolev leading 1st and 2nd positions in 4 consecutive races.
Four years later chassis 9704 and 9708 were sourced and imported in Greece by the country's leading super touring teams. In particular 9708 was imported from the UK by Eagle Racing team of supertouring champions Chalkiopoulos brothers only to be registered to P. S. Motorsport team a few months later. In turn P. S. Motorsport assigned 9708 to its leading and well-established super touring driver, Sami Fais to race the 2003, 2006 and 2008 Greek Circuit Championship Open Class with excellent results. The team's fleet was further enriched with matching provenance 9704 which was assigned to younger Stamatis Katsimis for the 2003 and Vasileios Papafilippou for the 2006 and 2008 Greek Championships.
In 2017 the team decided to restore 9708 and preserve 9704. It is now the first time in 20 years Lukoil's pioneer team supertourers driven by Nikolay Bolshikh and Dmitry Korolev are offered for sale.
