Walfridsson was the reason Volvo was brought into the international rally scene in the early 70s. A son of a Volvo dealer and 142 owner, he spent most of his childhood racing on the icy terrain through the forests of his hometown in Vlirmland, Sweden. At 21 years of age he gained international attention for participating with a works Volvo 142 at Britain’s Daily Mirror RAC Rally. In 1973 he partnered up with talented Jensen and started competing successfully against the lighter Escorts, Fiats and Stratos'. In 1974 Walfridsson and Jensen brought Volvo 142 to its pedestal by finishing 6th at the RAC Lombard Rally behind lighter rally cars driven by legendary Rohrl, Makinen and Munari.
This accident free, one owner 142 was prepared through a year-long restoration to honor this highlight in the model's history.
It was recently awarded 1st prize in Greece's 9th Historic Rally in Master Trophy class where the means of time keeping through sections are period correct.
