1954 Austin A40 Devon Van. Streamline Blue with light brown leather upholstery. This super Austin van is now a very rare sight with not many left on our roads. This particular van has been cherished by its previous owner and no expense has been spared, having over £1000 spent on its last workshop visit. It has a 1200cc engine mated to a column change manual gearbox. The upholstery is in lovely condition and the load area unmarked without the bashed wheel arches and dented panels usually found on commercials. The Devon starts on the button and drives well with a strong engine and smooth gearbox, most recent work includes a new clutch and exhaust, the carburettor was removed and refurbished, a new fuel pump fitted, steering box reconditioned, voltage regulator replaced and new spark plugs. Now MOT and Tax exempt ownership costs are kept to a minimum. Without doubt a very popular van of its era with many bought to work hard and consequently worked to death. With this in mind, examples like this are now difficult to acquire. The whole concept of purchasing a light commercial for private classic motoring combined with its advertising potential is one we have enjoyed for many years and proved to be an enormous success.
