The Appeal
Where the MGB tended to be purely about road use, the more sporting TRs had the performance and agility to make light work of rally stages too. The earlier cars like this TR3A also offered delicate, sculptural styling that changed with the later models.
These are al qualities that this car’s classic Old English White over Burgundy colour scheme neatly shows. It is a really tidy car. It was restored by specialist Tweed Engineering in the late 90s, but despite the passage of 25+ years, the care of its handful of keepers has kept it in very good order.
The mechanics were overhauled a few years ago and now feature some choice upgrades like twin DCOE Webers that maximise the performance of its torquey 2L. Since 2019, there has been a long list of new parts and improvements. These include work to upgrade the suspension, brakes and steering.
The care of its seven keepers is obvious from the photos and reinforced by the vast history file. This is a key draw about this car because it dates back to 1958. Amongst the highlights are some very detailed notes covering the period from the 1970s to 2015, documenting an array of work, plus a separate document covering further details.
Alongside the condition and history, the car comes with some useful options such as a Works Steel Rally hard top and some useful workshop manuals and handbooks.
