The Appeal
The Japanese 750cc invasion panicked traditional British bike builders. Triumph’s response was to build out its 500cc twin to a 750cc triple and create the suitably named ‘Trident.’ The result was a very quick sports bike that looked better than its Asian rivals and had history and provenance on its side too.
The Triden’s final evolution was the T160, which, from 1974, featured disc brakes, improved weight distribution, a 5-speed gearbox, and more traditional styling. These versions are highly collectable, and this factory-standard example is particularly impressive.
The vendor acquired it from well-regarded specialist JMC Restorations in 2019. It had arrived in the UK a couple of years earlier from overseas. Beautifully finished in burgundy with contrasting white paint and gold pinstriping, it is described as ‘pristine’ by the seller. Looking at the photos of this brightly be-chromed bike, it would be difficult to disagree.
We are also told that it is in ‘perfect’ running order. As such it would make a great addition to any collection.
