1970 Lotus Cortina Mark 2
Your eyes do not deceive you, there is a tiny version of this fast Ford next to the real deal: this is very Lotus Cortina used by Corgi to model their famous toy on.
First registered on 6thApril 1970, this Lotus Cortina has seen a great deal of care in its time. The car was completely restored in the late 80s, and having been in a few different colour schemes previously including the more common white with green, the car was returned to its original red colour scheme.
The history file on this car is absolutely superb, with narratives written by past owners with more detail than we could fit on this website, and documentation covering absolutely everything. Dyno print offs, restoration photos, magazine features and invoices from as far back as 1977 – we encourage any interested parties to come and leaf through this to get the full picture (socially distanced, with the option of fresh pizza and beer).
The car was also subject of a performance engine rebuild in its life, with the previous owner having the car rolling road tuned annually by BD Engineering. In 2017, this resulted in a power read out of 129bhp – some 20bhp more than standard.
Today the car presents well, with the previously restoration and care afforded to the car rendering it perfect driving condition. Testament to the regular tuning, the car is on-the-button and running superbly.
Sold complete with original NOS Corgi toy, the car can be sold with banded steel wheels either or the period Minilites as on the Corgi car.
