Beschreibung
Smartly styled and possessed of fine handling, it’s no wonder the MGF was a hit for MG when it arrived in the mid 90s. Over the years a number of special editions were released, including the Trophy 160, the most potent and sporting version of the MGF they built.
This example appears is in great order, benefiting from low mileage and a recent, professionally fitted new engine. If the idea of a mid-engined, nicely specced and sporting little roadster appeals to you (and why wouldn’t it), then we’d heartily recommend having a good look at this pretty sports car, which has an MOT until March 2024.
THE INTERIOR
Black half leather upholstery with grey chevron fabric inserts to the seats and door cards
Overall the upholstery shows well, with wear commensurate with the vehicle’s age and mileage, although there’s a small patch of notable wear to the outer bolster of the driver’s seat
The steering wheel is also showing some patination from use, but is in good, usable condition
Black cabin carpet is in good order, with some evidence of wear but no significant damage or staining we could see
The trim and switchgear are present and correct, with some signs of wear and the odd blemish, but nothing concerning
At the rear the luggage compartment is trimmed in grey carpet, which looks good, and also contains an MG branded ice scraper
The dashboard clock is not working and the oil temperature light has recently stopped working
Electric windows and door mirrors
Pioneer Android Auto / Apple CarPlay DAB system, the original CD/ radio head unit is included
Under the front bonnet, everything is in good order and there is a full-size spare wheel as well as the battery and brake master cylinder
THE EXTERIOR
Trophy Blue paintwork shows in reasonably good order, with a number of minor blemishes, stone chips and marks
There are a few notable marks to the paint and body, including a couple of deep scratches to the near-side corner of the front bumper and a dent and scuff to the off-side corner of the rear bumper
All of the trim is present and correct
There is small minor corrosion beginning to show at the edge of the sill seams
Manually operated black fabric roof in nice condition with no signs of UV damage or tearing
In April 2022 a new heated glass screen was installed in the convertible roof
The alloys are the original 11-spoke, 16-inch items and are in decent condition, with some marks and a little kerbing to the rims
Underneath, the floors and sills are nice and solid, with no damage or significant corrosion
THE MECHANICS
1, 796cc naturally aspirated four-cylinder, mid-mounted engine, delivering 160PS/ 158hp to the rear wheels
