This characterful classic Land Rover spent it’s first six years on an MoD base and still has a remarkably low mileage. Most likely used in training exercises it has infra-red convoy lights (only visible from directly behind the vehicle and I can’t guarantee they still work as I don’t have goggles) two 50 litre unleaded fuel tanks under the front seats, a full roof cage complete with spot lights front and rear, tow bar front and rear (the front one has helped get trailers and friend’s vehicles out of some sticky spots) being long wheel base this is great for sleeping in the back or in a tent on the roof if you wanted to turn this into an all-terrain camper and you’d still have plenty of room for solar panels.
The chassis is solid as far as I can see except for some corrosion on the nearside rear quarter. It’s not been galvanised or hidden away with underseal, there is some surface rust but solid again except for that rear quarter.
Mechanically the drivetrain, gearbox, brakes and suspension are all good, it does start and run but low compression on two of the four cylinders needs attention and the resultant loss in power means it will need to be trailered away.
Unfortunately, it sat on a flat tyre for a couple of months while I was away which resulted in the loss of that tyre, it’s currently on the spare which is a slightly smaller wheel and the tyre on the regular wheel will need replacing.
Finally, the odometer broke around 2013, it had three subsequent MOTs but was barely used between then due to me having a work van and motorbike. It was then taken off the road where it remained until it gained historic status. It still isn’t used due to the low compression but at least it’s standing proud. I have all of the original MOT certificates going back to 1987 when it first hit the road.
This is a great vehicle that with a little bit of work would double or triple in value. This is a very reluctant sale but I haven’t given it the attention it deserves for the last five or six years and the time has come to invest in other projects. I have many pictures on my one drive and will send a link upon request, I’m also happy to arrange a viewing, evenings or weekends are usually best.

Six former owners, I brought Archie in August 2011, had 6 years of fun and then sadly ran out of time to keep up the work. barely used since 2013, kept off road since 2016 and sat on the road but not used since last year after gaining historic status.
