This Elva Mk 6 is 1 of 29 made in 1961/ 2 to FIA Appendix C. Fitted with a Coventry Climax FWB engine, Hewland Mk2 gearbox (1 of 10 made for Elva)
The car was sold to the US in 1984 by a Preston dealer in a tattty condition with Elva Mk 7 nose and side pods, no rear body and a non Climax engine in pieces and a twin cam engine. Various US owners tried rebuilding the car and had a US built 1460cc Coventry Climax engine by Hutton Motor Engineering. Car imported to UK in bits and pieces in 2014 and totally rebuilt with period correct parts.
Car has finned drum brakes (inboard at rear), Lockheed "tin can" master cylinders. The rear inboard brakes have rare original Elva cast magnesium back plates/ gearbox side plates. The US made bodywork (spare unfettled set with car) fitted and painted to a very high standard by Jon Waggit of SSCC Motorsport. Tyres are little used Dunlop Racing, wheels are original Elva
Since rebuilding the car has been run in two events at Harewood Hillclimb. There is an extensive history file with rebuild photographs showing US owners and HMRC imported vehicle clarance checks
The car has received verification check by Roger Dunbar at Elva who allocated chassis number 60/ 17The five year rebuild project was a pleasure resulting in a great car with good handling Part ex with an E type of interest
