Welcome to this rare opportunity to purchase a Ford Mondeo Zetec S saloon. Being a saloon model it is much harder to come across compared to the more common hatchback and thought to be one of the few remaining. Having covered just under 82, 000 miles the 2. 5 litre V6 engine is still silky smooth, mated to a very tight 5 speed gearbox which makes the driving experience a pleasure.
This particular example was purchased as an ex demo in November 2003 by a Ford employee at a cost of £10225, he then sold the vehicle to his father in 2008, his father kept the vehicle until April this year when it came into my possession. There are 3 previous keepers on the V5.
The vehicles service history has unfortunately been misplaced, however I have been able to maintain some earlier service and maintenance records through the original supplying dealer, Most recently a service and brake fluid change in 2019 at 79936 miles. I was told that the vehicle had a clutch and flywheel replacement in 2012 at an estimated 65k miles, this was due to a leaking rear main oil seal and not wear. The clutch has a perfect biting point indicating this would be true.
I acquired the vehicle recently with the hopes to restore it to its former glory, as a Ford enthusiast myself I would love to see this done. Unfortunately an upcoming house purchase means I have to thin down my small collection.
To get to perfect condition the vehicle requires some cosmetic work including a wheel refurbishment, the drivers side A pillar repainting due to lacquer peel, and the boot spoiler re bonding as this is not secure. Mechanically it requires new brake discs and pads (MOT advisories), the brake pedal is also quite spongy I suspect due to the condition of these. The rear chassis legs were also advised for corrosion, I have pictures of them so please feel free to contact me to obtain these, in my opinion these are only showing surface rust and could be cleaned and treated as a repair. Finally there is an occasional clunk from the rear end over smaller bumps, I have not looked into this properly.
The interior of this mondeo presents immaculately which is a real testament to its long term owners, there is no wear to the seat bolsters or carpet (rubber mats in place since new), the rear seats appear to have never been used and most importantly, the dash mounted retractable cupholder functions perfectly. The drivers seat has an electric height adjustment which is functioning as it should.
This would make the perfect modern classic for a fast ford enthusiast, set to only go one way in value being such a rare example. A mondeo enthusiast club member suspects this to be the only black V6 Zetec S manual saloon in existence.
Viewings welcome, vehicle is based near Knebworth, Hertfordshire. Believed to be the last black V6 Zetec S saloon in existence
