1976 Ford Cortina 1. 6 GL estate.
Registered December 1976 in Swansea only 3 months after the Mk4 was introduced and trimmed out with its original light tan interior.
Has had in recent years, all new brakes, new steering rack, new standard exhaust system, electronic distributor, plug leads, poly bushed rear suspension, new waterpump and thermostat, new cambelt and starter motor. Has just had a new radiator as the original Ford item started to weep. Original included which could be re-cored if desired, retaining the original ford stamped header tank.
Originally registered to Swansea. It comes with some DVLA history which shows the 1st, 2nd and 3rd owners lived in the same road in Swansea. 4th owner also in Swansea and then in 2014 went East to Lincolnshire where it was renovated with new sills and wings and was treated to a full paint refresh. You certainly wouldn't know the the sills and wings had been replaced just by looking which suggests all work was done to a high standard and still looks good today. Engine, gearbox and axle are all believed original and all in excellent condition. It then found its way to Somerset in 2016 and was cherished by a lovely couple for the next 6 years. They kept a detailed record which is included in the sale of all shows attended, expenditure etc. During this period, apart from the items mentioned, it needed nothing more than routine servicing.
Although the low mileage cannot be truly substantiated, the way the car drives, the condition of interior, steering wheel, gear knob, pedal rubbers, all the running gear, and just the general feel of the car would suggest the mileage could well be accurate. All doors close effortlessly as they should.
Currently fitted with a Weber 32/ 36 (manual choke) to improve acceleration though the original single downdraft manifold, virtually new carb and original filter box are included if you prefer to revert to stock.

All locks and ignition operate from the same key including the spare. There is a full workshop manual, Haynes manual and a lever arch file full of invoices, sales brochures etc. Fresh MOT to May 31st 2024
An absolute joy to drive and with few of these early Mk4's left, an unusual sight at car meets.
