Description
California Import 1959 Ford Ranchero 352 , 5. 8 ltr , V8 Pick Up Truck , 3 on the tree Manual. Runs nice and we use her regularly but obviously at the price you can expect she could do with some attention to make her safer and even more reliable .
She starts easily with little if any choke from cold and ticks over nice with no overheating , engages gear and drives well however the clutch pedal sits rather high right now never bothered me, the power steering pump requires an overhaul as it loses fluid and requires regular topping up and the rear differential is somewhat whiny, It has been lowered by the previous owner and a set of modern 5 spoke custom alloys with adaptors and new tyres added but i dont think they suit the look or handling. New Exhaust.
She is thoroughly solid with just a couple of minor things on the bodywork you may wish to attend to , the brakes and some steering components have been overhauled and the fuel tank is brand new with an electric pump .. the gauge does not work.
dimensions 202 "L x 78" W for a garage fit.
It has fresh plugs , points , cap condenser etc but i have a brand new Pertronix 3 distributor and electronic ignition kit cost me £600 yet to fit available by separate negotiation.
Tax and MOT exempt as historic and i pay just £160 per year fully comp classic insurance .
If it helps i may consider your classic car , van or bike in part exchange if as realistically priced as my truck . Time has come to let go and shes a great buy, A rare '59 in the Uk and regarded as the best looking model year , we have been using her for local shows and had a lot of fun , scruffy original patina clear lacquer coated , the interior is equally spartan and scruffy and really would benefit from improving we just throw a mexican blanket over and enjoy, the new slash cut twin exhausts sound fantastic with the burbling V8 and she turns heads wherever she goes.
If you want pretty and smart she is not the truck for you.. if you want patina and cool she is perfect.
Ive driven her locally within a 50 mile radius regularly so i wouldnt recommend buying her and driving home a big distance or motorway right now.
I ALSO HAVE MY 1977 MERCURY BOBCAT 2. 8 V6 STATION WAGON LISTED ON HERE FOR £6800 , REQUIRING A FEW JOBS.. I MAY CONSIDER A SWOP DEAL FOR BOTH FOR ONE VEHICLE ?
