Description
Saba 9-5 Aero Estate
Here I have my Saab 9-5 Aero Wagon, it's a quite rare manual aero estate. I've owned this for 4 years and it's been absolutely reliable, unfortunately I'm moving to Australia so it's got to go.
It's virtually standard barring a few minor changes, I've fitted the 9-3 aero alloys as I think they look a bit more exciting than the standard 9-5 aero alloys. It's also got a walboro 255 fitted in place of the OEM fuel pump, makes absolutely no difference if you're keeping it standard but it's got plenty of headroom if you decide you want more power (these engines tune really well and relatively inexpensively. A remap from Noobtune costs £100 to take it to 280hp).
Mechanically it's in decent condition, I'm a self employed mechanic so it's had regular maintenance and has generally passed its MOT without issue. In my ownership I've fitted a recon turbo, intercooler and alternator, as well as a mild suspension refresh with new rear springs, shocks and poly bushes. It had new discs and pads all round in 2020 as well as plenty of little bits. I've just given it an oil change so it's good to go for it's new owner.
Anyone familiar with these cars will know they can have problems with engine sludging, so I've always changed the oil early throughout my ownership, it's been done every 6000 miles with fully synthetic. I've also fitted the upgraded engine breather kit from later models which should help too. The tyres have tread and underneath is rust free. It's had a few patches over the years but they have been done properly.
The car is 20 years old and does have cosmetic marks etc but otherwise it's a decent motor. I've done a few long journeys in it this year and it hasn't missed a beat. Being the pre facelift model it also has much lower tax (£330 a year) than the later 9-5s while still having 250hp on tap. It's pretty cheap to insure (£400ish for me, 28 including business use) and has been returning 30mpg. It's got plenty of life left in it providing you're willing to give it some TLC when needed, these will easily go past 200k miles if you look after them.
Any questions please feel free to ask.
