Here is our MG Midget. Manufactured in 1974 and first registered in August of that year. This makes it one of the last of the chrome bumpered round wheel arch models.
The colour is rather rare. Aconite was only used on MG Midgets for 12 months.
It has had 5 former keepers with one owner having it for 21 years.
The engine and gearbox are original and the numbers match the V5 document.
The car has never been restored.
It is original condition with only a few areas of improvement. It has had 5 new tyres, a relatively new hood, a new exhaust and the wheels have been refurbished.
The chrome is good.
My understanding is that the car has never been welded.
The interior is also original. In the correct colour of Autumn Leaf, with no rips or tears to the seats or door cards. The carpets are the original set so are quite worn and even non-existent in places. This does mean, however, that you can see the floor and check it's condition.
The nice things about this midget is that it's not hiding any secrets.... a good honest MG.
It has just passed it's MOT.
I have only had the car for 1 year. I bought it to improve but each time I think about what to do, I think it's better left in it's original state. As they say, it's only original once!
It drives really well. It breaks well and pulls through the gears as it should.
