Description

This Suzuki GS1000S (Known as the Wes Cooley Replica) was registered in New Zealand in 1979. I purchased it in 1989. At that point it had 2 or 3 previous owners (I'm not sure because when I registered it in the UK, the owner information wasn't transferred by the DVLA and they kept the paperwork). I transported it to the UK in January 1995 and registered it in February of 1995 with an age related plate. I used it in the UK for recreational riding. I have used the Suzuki to ride to Bristol to visit family quite often. The bike was ridden last about the beginning of March 2023, and started and run on Monday 22 May 2023. The bike is MOTed. The model is now very rare, this one is in mostly original condition. The exhaust is not original but is stainless steel. A fully restored S model sells for about £14, 000. If you are interested in purchase I can provide you with information and paperwork on work done on it for the last 34 years. I have the original bikini fairing but it needs some repairs with fiberglass and a repaint. I have two bottom ends for the engine. Both are in going condition. The S model bottom end is in storage and the E model bottom end is the one currently being used. The fuel gauge and oil temp gauge have never worked. The clock does work. The clutch has had new plates and springs very recently. The centre stand and rear brake lever have both been removed, greased and replaced not long ago. The battery is about a year old but due to not being kept up to full charge is now not in good condition. I jump started it on the 22nd of May. The seat cover is in poor condition, but it is the original one. The paintwork on the tank was damaged by the mechanic who put in the braided brake lines. The bike comes with two motorcycle covers and two heavy duty locks. I saw this motorcycle in a magazine in 1979 when I was 20 years old. I decide at that point I had to have one. It took me until 1989 to find one I could afford. It is a great looking machine. It has been 100% reliable. It is a cool bike. With the after-market exhaust it sounds fantastic. The GS is very much in need of restoration. I don't have the skills and patience required for that. I am prepared to lower my price for someone who will gaurantee to restore it and send me photos once it is done.
