Here we have a Ford Escort MK2 1600 Sport 1978 RHD, manual. It was recently imported from South Africa a UK registration has been applied for therefore will be sold registered with a period correct number plate and will be MOT and tax exempt.
Body - Export spec 1600 Sport shell with extra strengthening similar to our RS models.
The car is a genuine sport. We have tested the car around the yard and the 1600 crossflow engine runs smooth, with 4 speed box and quick shift. Clutch release bearing is a little noisy and needs replacing, the carb may need setting up as with all imports.
The vehicle has been repainted at some time, but very presentable and looks nice.
The engine bay is in decent condition, strut tops, wing rails and heater bowl all look ok, there is a small hole where the battery tray meets the inner wing that has a fibre glass repair, door post are all good, slight damage/ paint cracking to lower front passenger wing.
Underneath is in good condition, its had a welded patch repair to the wheel well, chassis all in good condition. it has a stainless steel exhaust with new shocks to the rear.
The interior is original 1600 sport, the drivers seat does not match the rest as it has a different colour stripe, dashtop is good, speaker to 1 door card only, headlining in good condition,
Lowering springs to front and 2" lowering blocks to rear with alloy wheels tires all in good condition.
drivers door pins need replacing
Overall very nice looking sport and needs a bit of TLC but nothing major 1600 crossflow, quick shift gear lever, lowered with alloy wheels and spotlights.
