All work mentioned below was done by previous owner, van is in great condition, drives very nice.
Body - The van has all its original panels, including sills and rear subframe. It has its full original front panel, all the floors are untouched, the rear load area is full and in mint condition, the rear doors are original and rust and repair free. the front inner wings are solid and original, and the front doors are solid and rust free.
Engine and gearbox - The van retains its original 998cc A series engine. This has been removed and inspected, it required no work. The head was removed and the valves reground, fully cleaned and new stem oil seals fitted.
The engine was repainted in its original black and runs faultlessly. Its had a new electronic distributor fitted, new cap, leads and plugs. A new water pump and alternator were fitted. The gear box changes very smoothly, and has had new output oil seals, side cover gaskets and gearchange oil seal. The rod change was stripped, cleaned and regreased. An engine service was performed with new oil and filter. New engine mounts have been fitted. The engine runs cleanly and pulls very well.
Front subframe - This was removed, stripped and repainted. Its the twin bolt earlier type, so fits solidly to the body with no play.
Running gear - The front top and bottom arms were removed, cleaned and repainted, new bearing kits fitted to the top arms and new bushes to the bottom arms and steering tie - rods. All new ball joints have been fitted, along with a replacement steering rack and new track rod ends. HiLo trumpets have been fitted to the front as the original trumpets were damaged during the removal of the knuckle joints. Stripped and cleaned front hubs have been fitted with timken bearings and new disc assemblies, including new calipers. It has had heavy duty steering arms fitted to match the steering geometry of the new hubs.
Interior - It has its original South African fabric covered seats ( I think they avoided fitting vinyl due to the heat!). The 3 clock dash has a 200kph magnolia speedo and magnolia water temp and oil pressure gauges. I think these were fitted recently, so cannot guarantee mileage as no history of it from South Africa, but they certainly look the part. Its had a new complimentary light brown carpet set fitted but retains the original brown door cars and black dash board backing. Theres a black headlining and small steering wheel. all the gauges work as they should, the wiring loom has been rewired and rebound to ensure electrical safety.
Rear subframe - After inspection I decided to leave the rear frame as it is, to show the great original condition. It wasn't painted and the radius arms didn't need replacing, just a quick clean and regrease.
Under The Bonnet - New brake and clutch master cylinders have been fitted, tin ones rather than the ugly plastic type. New copper brake lines where required, and new brake and clutch hoses. A new clutch arm kit has been fitted along with the clutch slave cylinder. A replacement radiator has been sourced and fitted as the old one was pretty ropey. The entire cooling system has been flushed and cleaned. South African vans weren't fitted with heaters as standard, but I've put a heater tap on incase the new owners want to fit one, and I'll include a heater at no additional cost. Other items such as starter solenoid, hoses, seals, gaskets etc have been fitted as required.
Sundry items- The van has had a full replacement exhaust, standard bore. It is fitted with 'Performance 5 x 10" alloy wheels in the Minilight style, all in great condition, with Dunlop tyres fitted. The chrome bumpers are in respectable order, with no real signs of age. The original fuel tank is fitted, and not rotten at all unlike home model vans and estates which have invariably had to have replacements ones fitted. The roof gutter is 100% perfect still retaining the original drip rail so often removed on other vans and estates. The roof is the ribbed type, and is painted in Old English White to a very high standard. The rest of the vehicle has been repainted in its original Surf Blue, the original paint was pretty faded and let the van down, but remnants of the original blue can be found inside the van. New seals, window runners, door check straps have been fitted along with a laminated windscreen for safety. Also comes with a winter cover. Paperwork:
