1973 Lotus Europa Special in JPS colours (black with gold stripes) with recently rebuilt original twin cam big valve 1558cc, 126bhp engine and 5 speed type 365 gearbox. Fitted with cream leather seats, door cards and centre console, with cream carpets, inertia seat belts and fitted with Lotus alloy wheels. The car is road tax fee exempt and MOT exempt. Most recent refurbishment includes engine rebuild with new valve seats for lead free petrol, new cam bearings, machined cylinder bores with new pistons, reground crankshaft, new main and big end bearings, new flywheel bolts, new water pump, new jackshaft bearings, new timing chain, new stainless steel exhaust, refurbished original twin Dell’Orto carburettors, new wiring loom to original Lotus Europa Special specification, new relays, new battery, new electronic ignition distributor, new coil, new silicone leads, refurbished alternator, new brake servo, replacement gear change linkages, Avo adjustable coilover front shock absorbers and bushes, Banks Europa replacement door hinges, and new sound proofing with acoustic matting to doors and engine bulkhead.
An original equipment Philips Turnolock radio is now installed, modified to receive FM, as well as LW/ MW and with audio/ charge lead for iPhone and MP3 (required for playing the 1970s soundtracks!!).
Original Workshop Manual and a large history file with photographic and invoice record of various renovations over the years, including replacement chassis around 1986 and respray to JPS black and gold colours 14 years ago. The car was built in late 1972 and first registered 1973. It has had five owners in the first 10 years, then 20 years with the 6th owner, then 2 owners until 2009, when I purchased it privately (via carandclassic. com) from near Watford in March 2009. I am the 10th owner and have owned it 14 years. I have enjoyed every moment, but we now have a dog that goes everywhere with us, so our Land Rover is now the vehicle of choice, and the Lotus is for sale.
The car is located in north Cumbria, and viewing is by appointment.
