Bought to France during 2021 the car has been a retirement project for its owner during the last two years. The car was being prepared for its Controle Technique (equivalent to UK MOT). Due to an unexpected house move, there will be no longer space to house this much loved project. It is the 3. 4L version with power steering, brake servo and 4 speed manual box and overdrive. It shows about 68000 miles which is believed to be genuine.
This is a complete car and many new parts have been fitted. There has been a top end overhaul on the engine with new gaskets, hoses and electronic ignition fitted. Compression figures are all good and it shows at least 40 psi oil pressure at 2000 rpm when up to temperature. The complete front suspension has been removed, dismantled and overhauled with new track rods, bushes and suspension mounts fitted. Front brake callipers have been inspected, cleaned and new discs and pads fitted and front brake hoses renewed. Front ball joint gaiters replaced. Petrol tanks have been removed, cleaned and sealed whilst minor bodywork repairs have been fully dealt with, hence primer finish to doors, boot lid and rear valence. All lights, wipers, horn and ancillaries work as they should.
The car interior is in very good condition, with all woodwork and veneers having been professionally refinished. It has dark blue leather upholstery in good condition for age and seats appear most comfortable and luxurious. Most of the external chrome work is in good condition , but the front bumper needs replacing or re-chroming. The car would benefit from refinishing in Jaguar Opalescent blue.
The rear brakes require overhaul and it would benefit from a new brake servo and new seals on the Burman steering box. It requires some minor under body welding to RH jacking point, front cross member behind valence and cover plate to LH sill. Existing exhaust system can continue to be used, but requires new rear silencers and tail pipes.
To accompany the car there is a UK V5C registration Document showing 7 former keepers, a FFVE Attestation for French Registration, Customs declaration and the purchase Invoice from a UK Specialist Classic Car business dated February 2021. There is also a Jaguar Owners manual. If the new owner wants some new parts recently purchased, but not yet fitted, and a full set of parts and service catalogues, these are available for a modest fee.
The car is located in Rhone Alps, SW France. The asking price is £5, 500. This Jaguar really has a stage presence, even when just stationary in the garage at home. All visitors have commented on its beautiful shape and smooth contours which endorses Jaguars' familiar cliche of 'pace and space'. Inside the passenger compartment, one's senses are struck by the smell of expensive leather and the sight of beautifully crafted burr walnut veneer on the dash and on door cappings.
The powerful straight six starts usually first time and when moving you and your passengers are in for a smooth ride even over the worst road surfaces.
Since my ownership started it has only been possible to drive a short distance along a private road that forms part of our property since the vehicle is not road legal at present. The full appeal of this car will be when it hits the open road and its new owner can then properly experience what this big cat is all about. The price is negotiable.
