Description
The Atelier des 1000 is pleased to present for sale this splendid Jaguar Type S 3. 8 in an elegant combination with its Woodrose Metallic body colour and black interior.
The S-Type represents the natural evolution of the famous MKII: a spacious, luxurious saloon and with a notably efficient drive, thanks in particular to its XK engine, whose reputation is well established.
Positioned as a higher-end version of the MKII, it elongates slightly to offer a more generous boot. The ventilation and heating have been redesigned for greater comfort, while the steering and suspensions have been reworked to deliver more precise handling.
A marriage car, a historic rally car, or the ideal companion for a Gentleman Driver, the S-Type knows how to do it all. And the example we present here adapts with ease to every use.
This one exudes undeniable charm, to which we could not remain insensible.
Our unit was purchased on 25/ 04/ 1967 in Paris, from the Delcroix dealer in Paris.
We have a complete service file covering the last ten years, a significant portion of which concerns a full engine restoration carried out at the end of 2024.
In short, this S-Type perfectly illustrates what a well-maintained classic car can be: it retains its patina and authenticity while having been made reliable and improved over time.
The engine is in run-in, having undergone a complete restoration as evidenced by the invoice file and the full photo dossier of the operation.
Metrology, machining, bore tooling and deck resurfacing were entrusted to a regional professional, ensuring reliability and performance for the legendary 3. 8L XK.
Mechanically, everything is in excellent working order: the engine is in superb health. It starts effortlessly, with no odd noises or smoke, and revs climb cleanly. Tuning is precise and effective.
The exhaust has been replaced with a stainless steel system, delivering a subdued growl.
The radiator has been replaced with an aluminium unit, and an additional cooling fan has been installed for better cooling.
The four-speed Jaguar gearbox with Overdrive operates without a hiccup. Gear guidance is smooth, gear engagement is precise, and the clutch release bearing was replaced at the end of 2024.
Braking is reassuring, notably thanks to the four-piston calipers fitted at the front.
The running gear is in good condition and shows no play. The underbody is in keeping with the vehicle, in excellent presentation condition and free of corrosion.
The chrome wire wheels are presentable and fitted with recent tyres.
The bodywork is superb, the paint shines and there are no notable defects.
The panel gaps are excellent.
The original cabin has been perfectly preserved, the seats wear a charming patina that blends exquisitely with the wood trim.
