Beschreibung

1965 Ford Falcon Sprint 289 V8 C4 cruise-o-matic transmission.
Born on the 18th June 1965 at the Lorain Ohio plant. This is a genuine “63D” code 1965 one year only Falcon V8 Sprint. Not a Futura or a converted 6 cylinder “grocery getter” hoped up, the real deal. By 1965 Ford were already awash with Mustang orders and in relative terms 65 Falcon Sprints are a rare thing with only approximately 1000 289 C4 cars made. Ford made several fundamental changes to the falcon platform for 65 as it was the platform for the Mustang including fitting the now legendary 289cui Ford performance small block engine, the then new for 1965 C4 3 speed cruise-o-matic transmission, alternator with fuse box, revised rear axle as well as new interior and exterior styling changes and finishes. My Falcon is still In its original specifications of Caspian blue metallic with white side finishes over a two tone blue deluxe interior. Unusually the car came from the USA to the UK in 2018 with a mass of history and invoices dating ownership and significant expenditure since the 1980’s to date, including its prized California black registration plates dated up-to 2017 showing its historic status. I also have the original steel wheels/ tyres, deluxe pressed wheel trims, dash top pad and manuals etc with the car. Remarkably it even comes with its original FORD stamped keys. This history showing at least a couple of rolling restorations with caring ownership, one owner having owned a body shop. The Falcon has an in period “pony carb” Tri-power intake with 3 x 2-barrel Ford Autolite carburettors with a mechanical linkage that means the car runs on the middle carb at light throttles until you push through the throttle to open all 6 Venturi’s which works well/ smoothly and is a very cool modification. There are many invoices detailing a full engine build with quality internals to an original look in the mid 2000’s. Overall condition is very good with no nasty repairs or welding apparent including underneath. There is some age here and there, the last repaint being over 20 years ago but it’s all patina not neglect and the interior paint finishes have been left alone and are all original with a California sun bleached patina & 50 years of arm on door top patina you just couldn’t replicate. It also has a front disc brake conversion with low profile period looking calipers that still fit under the standard 14 inch wheels. Currently Fitted with some quality superlite T/ A alloy wheels and BF Goodrich tyres to give it a pre66 euro touring car or Monte Carlo rally vibe. With me since 2018 and has lead a sheltered life though regularly serviced to ensure it is ready to use as required. All in all a rare and original piece of American performance history that would probably be worth a whole lot more back in America as a collector car. Please note that I’ve only pictured about 10% of the invoices on file, this car comes with a lot of history, better pictures will be added when the weather is better but please come for a viewing by prior appointment. Thinning down my carefully chosen collection to a more manageable size due to retirement.
