1958 Series Land Rover SWB 88” In Deep Bronze Green - Nut and Bolt Rebuild
This is a first year of production model, sought after and rare. Many of the components were carried over from a series 1 vehicle so a very collectable Series.
The previous owner has completed a full nut and bolt rebuild on this vehicle, spanning over the time of 3 years and has been driven very little since.
This car still has the original chassis. It was dipped, repaired and powder-coated meaning this vehicle is still eligible to be exported.
Many of the exterior panels have been replaced and line up better than they did new. Have a look at the door gap one the drivers side and tell me you haven’t seen a better one? It even shuts like a golf!
The car has been painted in the original Deep Bronze Green in the correct coach paint used in 58.
As expected, all the of the suspension and drive chain has been completely replaced and having owned many of these, I have never owned one that drives like this. It doesn’t bounce or rattle. It goes over bumps very compliantly and the steering wheel feels likes its attached to the front wheels… strange right?!?
The car sits on BF Goodrige tyres, but the factory correct Michelins are also available for it, to return the car back to standard.
The detail is simply too extensive to list, as well as ALL the new, correct parts fitted. But time to study the images (that simply doesn’t do this vehicle justice) will show you the immense high standard its been restored to.
The engine is a period Perkins engine. Fully rebuilt and detailed, this was a sort after upgrade back in the 60’s because it meant your Landrover would start, not be outrageously loud, keep up with modern traffic (todays modern traffic) and be considerably more economical.
I have priced this car competitively and it compares to others in the 40-60k region. Well worthy of detailed inspection. I doubt you will find a better one for the money I am asking.
