Description
The Toyota Sera was a Japanese market car based upon the Toyota Starlet floorpan and running gear. The body was notable for several features, most strikingly the forward hinged butterfly doors which marks the first time this design had been used on a mass production car (the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale probably doesn't count). It was also one of the first cars with projector headlights, and the rear glass was one of the biggest pieces of frameless glass to be fitted to a car.
This particular car was built in 1994 and imported privately to the UK in 1998. It was originally red and several years ago it was repainted in a dark purple colour for the new owner. It is Citroen Whisper Purple.
The car comes from the third and final phase of production with minor changes to seat fabrics, and a few mechanical changes - notably the addition of door side impact beams, the hard plastic rear spoiler with integrated third brake lights, and being a late example has 3 point rear seat belts and R134A air conditioning.
The car is equipped with an automatic gearbox (as the majority were) and is pretty standard except for the addition of the optional armrest / storage box and factory alloy wheels.
The car has a full MoT until March 2024.
Paintwork has some scuffs and marks and there are some areas of shrinkage in places. Mechanically fine.
Interior - a split on the drivers seat has been repaired, but other than that is in very good condition. The radio is a UK spec Pioneer double din system with touch screen. It has Android Auto and Apple Carplay and a CD slot. With the addition of a £20 DAB aerial it would recieive DAB radio too.
Car is based in Norwich, UK. Can be exported fairly easily if your country accepts imports of this age.- late example of car with growing cult following
