An immaculate condition Champ, one of the last ones built; and fully restored by the acknowledged UK Champ experts. Owned by me for the past 17 years, with no expense spared to keep this in tip top condition. Over the years it’s had a processional 2 pack re spray, rear diff, axle and gearbox re-built, new clutch, radiator re-core, new stainless exhaust, all brake lines and cylinders ( including master) replaced, new brake shoes, new generator panel and generator, new fan belts, and relined ethanol proof fuel tank with electric fuel pump. It’s had new points, condenser and plugs in the last 12 months. Fitted with all the correct pioneer tools, Jack ( very rare) original seat covers, front rifle holders and 1960 dated water jerrycan. Comes with full workshop manuals, and fully serviced with all fluids changed in March. Always kept in a centrally heated garage and driven regularly; this vehicle has no rust and is ready to drive wherever you want to go. The vehicle also has full side screens ( not pictured) which are included in the sale. You may find cheaper Champs….. but you’d struggle to find a better one. Save yourself a lot of restoration expense and buy the best. The Austin Champ was the result of a post war five year development period to create the best general purpose vehicle for the British army. The “ no expense spared” result was a very advanced machine with full synchromesh gearbox, a Rolls Royce engine and torsion bar suspension. If you’re feeling adventurous, it’s also capable of driving completely submerged, and can engage all five gears in reverse as well as forward. Four wheel drive is engaged via a simple lever. Extremely capable off road ( and a lot more comfortable than a Series Land Rover) it also had excellent on road manners and cruises happily on the motorway. The hood simply unclips and can be taken down ( or put up again) in around 30 seconds.
