Beschreibung
1948 Alvis TA14 Shooting Brake. Bodied by Jones Bros of London in a utility style, but, does have exposed woodwork around the windows. It has obviously been the subject of fairly recent restoration, the interior in beige leather and cloth is like new, the cloth roof and webasto sunroof are like new. The paintwork has some scrapes but the bodywork is sound. The doors all open and close smoothly with no door drop. I bought it a couple of years ago, but it has spent most of its time in secure dry storage. It does run and drive, but I have never been far in it.
There was no history when I bought it and it has had little done to it in my ownership. I had it transported home from storage earlier this year and got my local garage check it over. The lights, brakes, tyres, etc were all OK at the time.
This has no seatbelts, no power assisted steering or servo brakes (the brakes are rod operated) it still has semaphore indicators, so not a modern drive.
The dashboard clock does not work, nor does the temperature gauge.
The carpeted rear shelf can be removed to increase the luggage space. The rear backrest is bolted in position, I have not investigated whether it can be folded, but it doesn't look obvious.
I have two full sets of keys (the doors all lock) and a third 'valet' set for the ignition and doors but not the tailgate. I was aware of this particular car when it was advertised quite a few years ago, but at the time was not in a position to buy. Two years ago I was looking for something to cheer myself up and saw it for sale with a dealer a couple of years ago. It has had an awful lot of work done in the intervening years. If you search it on the Internet like I did you will find phots pre-restoration and the ones when it was going to go to Auction in 2020. I bought it, but I have had little chance to use it, just visiting it occasionally in storage. The interior is just too nice to put my dogs in it.
