Selling our Hillman Minx MkVIIIA - 1956
This was our recommissioning project during lockdown. We have completely rebuilt the braking system with all new wheel cylinders, flexible hoses and rigid pipes (all kunifer). The master cylinder was replaced sometime before and is still in good order.
The engine now runs sweetly having had the cylinder head overhauled by Randall's of Walsham le Willows with hardened valve seats to cope with unleaded petrol.
The dynamo is a reconditioned unit and the voltage regulator is new. Brand new battery also.
The car runs and drives and presents well although the paintwork is not perfect with some bubbling in places. The odometer shows 28, 000 which could well be correct as the interior is extremely good. The chrome is all in very good condition. Fitted with fairly new radial tyres but the spare is one of the original crossplies. Comes with some paperwork showing previous ownership, bills for parts and services plus letters regarding the retention of the original Swansea registration number which is now non-transferrable.
This is the last of the Minxes this shape and left the factory with the 1390cc overhead valve engine that was used in the series cars. It is a rare model, having the chrome strip that runs all the way around the car to allow for two tone paintwork. However, it seems that this particular car was all black from new.
Looking for a good home for this one so please no customisers or rat rod enthusiasts.
