Here is my 1973 Rover 3500V8 which has a very interesting history.
The car is in Monza Red with black leather upholstery. It is tax and MOT exempt. The last MOT was in 2018 at 80365 miles. The current mileage is 80834. There is a boot mount for the spare wheel and it is fitted with a period Radiomobile radio which paperwork suggests is MP3 converted but which has not been tested. It is currently on a set of period P5 Rostyle wheels but a set of 3500S wheels in great condition are also included. It also has Power Assisted Steering which I believe was retro fitted.
It is in pretty good condition with, as far as I can see, only a small piece of surface rust on the leading edge of the front wing and another small blister on the top of the rear wing both of which are pictured. I should stress that the main photos were taken last time I used the car in 2021 and it is currently in storage. The photos of the small rust spots were taken today. The current insurance valuation (Hagerty) is £10, 000.
All in all, it is a cracking car. It hasn't however been used since 2021 and whilst it was started up last year (and it started fine), it now languishes in storage with a flat battery so it may require some minor recommissioning. From what I recall it has a full tank of fuel also!
Please feel free to come and have a look. I have described the car based on my opinion and it may differ from yours! I (and the car) am close to Darlington (4 miles from Darlington main line station and 3 miles from Teesside Airport) and I can collect from either. The car was originally supplied to Mr Peter Scott by Mann Egerton in Colchester. Mr Scott kept the car for 25 years before it was sold on to Mr Steele in London in November 1998. He sold it to 'The Classic Car Club' in London in 2006. It was then sold to Mr Bond in York who it seems was quite an avid P6 club member and then to the gentleman from whom I bought it in 2018 when ill health forced him to retire from driving.
Mr Scott was fastidious and not only are there two 'Passport to Service' booklets (a second being issued when the first was full) which took the car to 1983 and 60732 miles, but from there on there are copious invoices, all from the supplying dealer, up to 1986 and 66328 miles. There is also some communication from Mr Scott to Mann Egerton regarding a disputed invoice for £26. 73 for replacing an instrument light bulb, and also for 'losing' a spare battery he kept in the boot for emergencies.
Additionally, the original sales brochure is included in the file as are the original drivers handbook and other documentation. There is even the options price list from 1973! There are also a selection of MOT certificates dating back to 1994 and a selection of tax discs from as far back as 1985.
The car was originally Tobacco Leaf - but was at some point, (sensibly for those who know what colour Tobacco Leaf is!) changed to red and there are some photographs of this in the file.
There is also paperwork in the file to suggest that the car was selected by the P6 Owners Club to appear on the club stand at the National Classic Car Show in 2014. There are also some old owners club magazines in the file.
