Listed for sale is my 1971 MGB GT finished in teal blue over a tan interior.
In my possession for the past year, this MGB has been in regular use (3 / 4 outings a week) and has been nothing but reliable in my ownership.
With eight previous keepers over the past 52 years, and regular routine maintenance carried out within my ownership, this vehicle has 27, 900 miles on the odometer. This MGB has a university motors special badge on the bonnet, however, there is no documented history of it being a university motors car. This MGB has overdrive on 3rd and 4th gear. To my knowledge, the only non-standard parts on this MGB are the ST Tuning style front valance, an upgraded stereo and a slightly sportier exhaust.
With lots of character and personality and plentiful spare parts manufactured, the MGB makes for a very practical classic with plentiful and inexpensive spare parts supply. As this vehicle is registered as a historic vehicle, road tax is free and insurance is incredibly inexpensive. The bodywork and interior is far from a show-winner (reflected in the price) , I have photographed close-ups of the poorest areas of bodywork. The heater has not been connected in my ownership so is presumed not to work.
On the 3rd November 1998 ‘EVB 419J’ was subject to a full restoration carried out by Mick Dearing Body Repais of Lincolnshire. Below are the bullet points of the restoration:
- Bare metaled body off restoration with visible rust areas plated.
- Front and rear windscreens removed
- Petrol tank removed and new sender unit fitted
- Running gear checked and ancilieries replaced (all brake pipes, rear slave cylinders and front wheen bearings.
- Underside shutz protected
- Removed engine for service and paint
- Bare metal restoration of engine bay
- 2 new doors
- Painted in Teal Blue
- Fitted new trim
- Fitted new chromework
- Shot blasted wheels and repainted in black and silver
- Fitted new sony sterio system
- Engine tuned
- New steering wheel
Since its full restoration in 1998, EVB 419J has had the following history documented:
19. 09. 2006: New brake shoes + pads
02, 05. 2009: New link rear sheck
11. 05. 2009: New Lamp
23. 06. 2010: New fuze box
12. 05. 2011: New brake hose, new brake calipers
01. 06. 2012: New leaf springs, new spring kit
02. 07. 2015: NEW GASKET SET CARB HS4
18. 08. 2021: MOT test carried out
06. 06. 2022: Full pre-delivery inspection, including all fluid changed
04. 01. 2023: MGB Special Tuning style front valance fitted
10. 02. 2023: New fuel filler cap, new door sill plates, new window winders and new choke cable
11. 08. 2023: New fuel pump fitted
