Triumph spitfire 1500 finished in stunning British racing green with original beige upholstery for sale. Extensive bodywork and repaint with photos to prove carried out over the last 2 years including new boot floor and rear valance, new front wings and wheel arches as well as new headlamp support panels, all fully under sealed.
Whilst the body was off the chassis has been rebuilt front to rear with new bolts and every bush changed. The new bushes include all lower and upper suspension arms, new steering rack bushes and bolts, new anti roll bar bushes and clamps etc. New wheel bearings were fitted along with new brake callipers, pads and discs on the front and new rear drums, shoes, cylinders and fitting to the rear. New brake hoses and hard lined fitted through out with a new master cylinder.
New springs and shock absorbers were sourced and fitted with new stainless steel top plates and the original steel wheels painted then shod with new Toyo tyres.
A new clutch was fitted along with all new hydraulic components. The cylinder head gasket was replaced along with new studs and updated mini head nuts. A new thermostat and water pump along with new sender units where fitted to compliment the new radiator hoses and updated aluminium radiator. A 4 branch manifold was fitted connected to a stainless steel exhaust with twin exit pipes. The vehicle retains its original style ignition system with new points condenser, rotor and cap, leads topped with a new updated ignition coil. The vehicle retains its original HS4 carburettors.
Electric wise it’s had new head lamps (H4 conversion type) and new front indicator/ sidelight units fitted. A new indicator switch and new flasher relays. The starter motor has been refurbished professionally and a new starter relay has been fitted. A 12v socket has been added to the interior. The original radio is in place but not currently wired up. The rear lights have had new gaskets fitted to them and the number plate lamp units are new replacements.
So as you can see she has had a fair amount of work and money already spent, there’s is a few bits that need addressing:
•The carburettors need setting up, they were working fine then after she sat a few months she wasn’t happy. She runs and drives but lacks the 1500s punch
• The rear lights can be intermittent, by the looks of things it’s an earth problem,
• The indicators are intermittent, mostly work but occasionally don’t, (hence the switch replacement) again possibly an earth problem
• Speedometer doesn’t work, cable is broken I believe, easily available
• Roof has a few splits/ holes, a new one is supplied, I just don’t have the patience for that sort of thing!
So overall it’s a great little car that with a little bit of time and love could be even better, ideal easy tinkering project across the winter then ready for spring next year without spending tens of thousands on parts and devoting countless hours in the garage (we’ve all been there!)
Any questions please feel free to ask , email/ text is better owing to my poor signal in the area. Having said that I’m always happy for you to view, a cup of tea/ coffee will be provided!
Many thanks for reading!
