Description
Welcome to the sale of my 1991 Peugeot 309 GTi Phase 2. I bought this as a small project to work on over winter, but my reason of sale is I have purchased another car, which means this must now find a new home as I don't have the space for it.
This example has covered just 113k genuine miles from new, which is below average for these. I am the 8th owner from new too. In my few months of ownership, I have had a lot of work done to the car as it wasn't as described when I bought it from auction. It is a cat model which means it doesn't have the full 130 BHP. It also has a factory sunroof.
It is now in great running and driving form. I have replaced the airbox induction hose and the AFM induction hose. A touch of OCD meant that the rusty clips had to be replaced too!
After that, I replaced the HT lead holder as that was cracked. This is common. Old plastic gets brittle and breaks when you touch it. Especially on French cars. While at it, all the spark plugs were replaced with new ones. The car needs a couple of revs from cold to get it to idle nicely. 205s & 309s were never good at idling, so I wouldn't worry about this too much. After a few minutes, it sits happily at 850-900 RPM.
Then I paid for a windscreen chip repair. There is a photo of what it was like before compared to now. The crack has been drilled into and filled up so it doesn't get any bigger, nor does any water get in. However the laminate on the window still shows from when it was damaged originally.
If you wanted this gone, then you would have to replace the windscreen.
The car originally came with one key, so I have got another cut as I could never bring myself to sell a car with only one key!
Before my ownership, it has had plenty of care with invoices/ regular services going right back to date of purchase. It comes with 16 previous tax discs, owners manual, maintenance booklet with a variety of stamps, going back to the original supplying dealer of Warwick Wright Chiswick. The car still holds its' original dealer plates!
Towards the end of 2020, before my ownership. The car benefitted from welding to the offside front inner wing, which has been done to a professional standard. The rear axle has also been rebuilt as it shows. The car has been undersealed prior to my ownership too.
Going back in time more, there are about 40 odd invoices for standard service and upkeep.
Included too are the original sales brochure and model range brochure.
A bit more about the car, all of the electrics are working including the original Clarion cassette player. The wheels have been refurbished recently and are looking very smart. I would give the paintwork an average mark as the bonnet is micro-blistered and the passenger side C-pillar is age-related scratched. With that being said, I am led to believe that it is mostly original paint. One part has been touched up on the drivers wing and underneath is a small dent as pictured.
Unfortunately there is also a very small patch of bubbling on the top right of the windscreen seal and on the rear passenger side arch. With very few 309 GTi PH2 left in the UK, most being off the road, this is a great usable car.
Looking at prices of 205 GTi 1. 9s with the same mileage, you'd be lucky to get one for less than £15, 000. So for the much rarer sister car to be priced at more than a third less is an opportunity not to miss. This example is ready to drive away and enjoy with 9 months MOT. It even has a set of brand new tyres on!
You are more than welcome to come have a look at the car, but please let me know with at least 48 hours notice. Viewing is welcome in weekends, however weekdays are very tight for me. Equally, my response to any enquiries will be dealt with past 6:30 PM and all day on weekends. Payment by bank transfer only.
I do not deliver cars myself, however I can organise nationwide delivery by open or closed trailer at the buyers cost. Equally, I would encourage any successful buyer to drive it away as it is.
Feel free to ask any questions. I am open to sensible offers, but silly offers will be ignored.
I have been completely honest writing this listing. What you have read and see is what you are getting. There is zero warranty with the car. Thank you for taking the time to read. The mileage may increase very slightly, due to the car still being in use.
