This is a wanted advert and any references to or pictures of actual cars are ones I currently own. I am looking for an interesting original 1937-1947 Rover to add to my private collection. It has to be a different model to those I already own but having been offered various models, what I'd really like to find is a 16 saloon or sports saloon in black or red, with a brown or red interior. That's top of the wish list and the right car in the right colour will be very unlikely to not become mine if the condition is excellent and the price within some general definition of realistic..
It would need to be:
In the UK
With its original UK registration
Substantially original (I hate electronic ignition, quartz clocks and bits that are non standard).
Not white
Have a Leather interior
Working or restorable Bijur system
Opening working sunroof
The actual price will depend on the year, model and condition.
Some recommissioning is perfectly acceptable but no basket cases or complete rebuilds, or freewheels replaced with overdrives.
I have already bought several cars advertising here, hence all my previous adverts leading to some of the cars in the photos, plus others. Over the years I have owned many older vehicles and carry out all my own repairs and maintenance. I would like to find a final Rover to complete my little collection, preferably before the end of February. I've settled on my favourite couple of makes and am concentrating on them for my final decades of older vehicle ownership.
Try me after you've been round the brokers and auctions houses. I'm hopeful you'll find an offer from me for the right car is more than their net sums to you and it'll be a 'right now' offer if I'm interested, not waiting months and their tales of how the market is falling away, it didn't meet the reserve, the buyer didn't pay.......

Buying your car is just the start of the journey for me because it will have virtually everything I can make right on it done if it is slightly let down in one or two areas. Two cars I own have each had their seats completely retrimmed over the last two winters as original at a cost of £3000 each , plus mechanical work. That's why the purchase price has to reflect the condition so if you want your car to have a really good home, do please bear that in mind. The grey 14 in one of the photos is shown as it came to me but now has the correct passlamp and horn fitted, driven 1000 miles by its previous owner in the past 40 years and owned by the lady's father from new, I was delighted to become this car's new owner.

Ask yourself how many people are making an instant cash offer on a saloon 30s car at present? By all means, hang on for the price someone says your car is worth but ask how deep into their pockets they are going to pull out any real money. The highs of a few years ago are gone, it affects me as much as you. Garaging space means I can only buy one more and I'd like to have a chance of it being yours, especially if you've owned it a long time and it looks and feels like old cars used to do.
