The One-Twenty signified the first time that the famous manufacturer Packard of Detroit Michigan had entered the highly competitive mid-priced eight-cylinder car market.
This rare and curvaceous right hand drive Packard presents well in cream paintwork with contrasting pale aubergine-coloured wings. The look is enhanced by whitewall tyres, a cream-coloured interior and a ‘Goddess of speed’ bonnet mascot. The plate mounted in the engine bay shows that this Packard was delivered to Leonard Williams and Co. Ltd of London in 1937. The owner holds the cars history dating back to 1951 where it was owned by Roy Wilkinson of Pontypridd. The bench seat floor gearchange model is also fitted with a Dickie seat, a rear parcel rack and an impressive front grille.
Well known in Packard circles, the enthusiast vendor has owned and maintained this coupé for the last seven years alongside his eclectic car collection. The car had been partially restored by the previous owner before his purchase and using nearly all original parts it was rebuilt with a focus on maintaining it’s patina. The car is driven and shown at Brooklands Museum on a regular basis.
This Packard has also featured in the March 2018 copy of the well-respected publication ‘Classic American’. FMK 221 is an ideal opportunity to own a rare piece of pre-war Americana.
