Description
Full UK registration number and logbook.
I have owned the car since February 2016.
I have a Jaguar Heritage Certificate stating the date of manufacture was 25th August 1961 so B spec.
This was originally for the American market hence LHD, originally exported to Texas, this will explain the excellent condition of the chassis.
When I purchased the car the engine was running, clutch working, gears engaging and brakes soft but working.
I decided to go through the running gear including the brakes and suspension first and ran up quite a few bills with Barry Thorne.
I upgraded the rear suspension with the help of a Robert Grinter to his bespoke telescopic suspension kit and fitted Spax adjustable shocks front and rear.
There are a pair of new rear leaf springs included but not yet fitted, the car sits on what I assume to be the original set.
The second phase was to enlist the services of Russ Carpenter, Russ rebuilt the carburettors and completely refurbished and rebuilt the cylinder heads, all cooling hoses with stainless joining pipework was replaced at the same time, Russ also refurbished and rebuilt the water pump.
Running and driving, starts on the button, well it did last year, fuel pump seems to have given up so am in the process of having a classic car mechanic visit.
With regards the body, doors, boot and bonnet all close nicely with good gaps.
It was originally white and at some point painted red many years ago. not the best job to be honest, as can be seen in the photos the paint has lifted together with the top coat, I’m no specialist but I did enlist the opinion of a restoration company who said the best way would be to use a 2 part resin based fibreglass filler as the original base fibreglass was in a good state.
Excellent as good as new front and rear bumpers, hubcaps and tail light bezels.
Seats are very good, carpets are serviceable but I would replace.
Tyres are new.
Genuine reason for selling, bought when I had a large garage and plenty of parking space, I have moved house into a town centre location and no longer have a garage on site, the car has been garaged a few miles away and the garage does not have any power, this has made it difficult to work on, so I have made the decision to sell.
Obviously the choice is yours but I would recommend a trailer as although I drove it up and the drive it hasn't been driven at speed on the on the open road since I purchased it.
