Description
This MGA was the subject of a detailed earlier restoration back to its original specification and has done under 2, 000 miles since. The Mk2 coupe is a rare car only 521 were built compared to 8, 198 roadsters. The Mk2 has the perkier 1, 622 cc engine and this car is in very good condition it runs, brakes and handles very well.
• It was built 14th to 20th Dec 1961 in Old English White with a black leather interior and like most Mk2's was destined for the American market, it was first registered in the USA on 1st Jan 1962. Very little is known of the car’s history in America but it was re-patriated to Northern Ireland in the early 2000’s where it was fully restored as a retirement project. Unfortunately, the restorer passed away in 2009 soon after completing the restoration and the MGA remained unused.
• The car was then registered in the Isle of Man in June 2015 before being re-patriated to the UK later the same year.
• During the restoration all parts either renewed, replaced or restored. It has the correct painted silver wire wheels, dynamo, positive earth, 2 x 6 volt batteries, no windscreen washer or sun visor as these were optional extras not originally taken up.
• It’s believed that at the time of the restoration the odometer was either renewed or zeroed and it now only shows 1, 920 miles
• The car had a complete body off refurbishment, front and rear wings were replaced (bolt on panels) as were the sills and floor. It has the correct aluminium bonnet, boot and doors.
• It has been re-wired, has replacement lighting, radiator, oil cooler, brakes, suspension, petrol tank, etc
• The seats have been re-trimmed with the correct black leather and white piping, carpets and headlining have been replaced and the boot re-carpeted.
• It has the original steering wheel, a spare wire wheel and tyre, starting handle, toolkit and a power spark ignition replaces the points and condenser.
• The chassis has been re-conditioned, it has a big bore free-flow manifold with stainless steel exhaust system. The engine runs at its correct temperature of 190 F.
• The carburettors were professionally stripped down and refurbished in 2019
• The car comes with its Heritage CertificateThe MGA Coupe is arguably one of the most stylish MG's ever built with its rounded rear windows and body panels. In Old English White and a black leather interior, probably the best colour combination to enhance its classic lines and curves . I’ve owned the car since 2017 and it's only done around 1, 300 dry miles since to local car meets. It's never been out in the rain or washed with a hose pipe. In the past year its had new front and rear bumpers and in March 2024 two replacement 6 volt batteries. I’m not desperate to sell the MGA and I'll be sad to see it go but I need the garage space for other projects.
