VOLVO P1800 ES 1972 OVERDRIVE POWER STEERING RESTORED 1993 ALL FACTORY PANELS

Purchased new in 1972 by Mr Newbold
Remained in the hands of Mr Newbold and was restored for him in 1993 using all new factory panels that are no longer available.
The car passed to the second owner in 2019 having been owned by Mr Newbold for 47 years.
Both subsequent owners the first in 2019 and the following owner in 2020 reported the steering to be heavy for modern conditions as the reason for sale.
I purchased the car in 2021 and had electric steering fitted which allowed me to fit new premium modern tyres that improved grip taking advantage of the powered steering making the car easy to manoeuvre.
Whilst the car was fitted with new tyres I had the undercarriage professionally fully undersealed with a Ziebart sealent although on inspection the coating was still excellent.
I believe this car is unique having been owned for 20 years prior to his restoration and his 27 subsequent years of ownership.
Another remarkable story to join a similar car that has surpassed three million road miles in a single ownership.
The quality of the build from Volvo is outstanding and these cars are rare in numbers as production was only in 1972 and 1973 and many consider one of the most outstanding designs in automotive history.
I have copies of the Blue Prints going back to the 60’s when the design for the shooting brake was first signed off.
The car is probably the best example surviving having been in single ownership for 47 years having restored the car in 1993 he held on to the car for a further 27 years. The car is in original specification with overdrive and recently added electrical power steering.
Invoices accompany the file including original brochures from the period the owners handbook and service book fully stamped from new.
