Please look at all our bikes listed here on Carandcclassic, thanks.
Whether you are a dealer or a private collector you are welcome to make us an offer on one or on several bikes in a package deal. This motorcycle is one of 33 bikes we are selling due to the complete dissolution of our small but exclusive private motorcycle collection.
Ducati 900 Super Sport in the desirable silver blue livery used on the SS in 1975-1977. This is number 950 of appr. 2500 SS 900 build in the silver blue paint scheme. The Vin plate on the steering head lists it as being build 1/ 77.
This bike's engine number is only a couple of hundred numbers away from the frame number, i. e. it is considered numbers matching in Ducati terms.
This mostly original motorcycle has original frame paint, original fuel tank and side cover paint as well the original zippered solo seat cowl. It has as they say real Patina which sets it apart nicely from all other restored bikes.
An original SS dual seat comes with this Ducati, with the correct lockable compartment and with the original dual seat cover still in like new condition, bordered of course just like the solo seat by the chromed metal strip that is used to secure the seat cover to the fiberglass base.
Also included are an original Imola fuel tank in matching colors, the original Lafranconi mufflers all 900SS were delivered with in the USA and a second painted to match original center stand. The mounted centerstand has been slightly modified to ease use for a smaller person. It also comes with the original owners manual and the original toolkit in the blue Ducati bag.
Side covers still have the original water transfer decals on them with slight patina as is correct for a nearly 50 year old original Ducati. The fairing reeceived a matching respray in the past from the long term previous-to-us owner due to a mishap in the garage when pushing the bike past some garden equipment.
All service work and images as well as videos taken/ performed in January/ February of 2024 in our workshop near Lisbon in Portugal.
The bike was purchased several years back as a nostalgic purchase to re-create the feeling i had when i bought my first, nearly identical 900 SS in the 1980-ies.
Total original mileage on this SS is just 12. 428 miles, supported by historical documentation going back to the first owner, a Ducati dealership in the USA. Every inbetween owner is known, the file folder with many previous receipts comes with the bike.
This SS has the correct 1976/ 77 components everywhere, such as the 4777 Borrani rims front and rear, the Brembo flat top calipers and Brembo reservoirs front and rear as well as the drilled cast iron Brembo rotors up front and in the rear.
It has correct Smith instruments and the original 5 warning light dashboard. Throttle is provided by the Tomasselli dual cable unit with lockscrew underneath. Grips have been updated to the natural transparent brown rubber Ariette grips, favored by myself as well as many riders of that period.
The exhaust is the period correct Conti 2-2 system with open Conti mufflers sporting the circle around the Conti script.
Rear shocks are the correct length 315mm Marzocchi units delivered on all early 900 SS from the factory.
Turn signals are still the original reflector units that were legally required in the USA for all Ducatis of the period. Taillight is the square CEV unit also required by the authorities in the US.
The bike was imported by a Brit to the UK and registered there in the 1990-ies and subsequently purchased by an enthusiast from Austria. He registered the bike as a classic vehicle which is quite difficult in Austria.
The documentation to this day is still this austrian vehicle title booklet, with pictures of the bike from that time inside the document.
This SS is listed in the bevelheaven data index with us as the owners. Feel free to look it up, it is number 424 of all square case bikes listed there with previous and current owners names, vin number and engine number. A copy of the listing there is posted in the images.
I am certain there are items missing from my list above, please call us with any questions you may have. Over 60 high quality current photos and cold start as well as turntable viewing videos available in an online album format (no downloading needed) on request.
We have only displayed it in our collection due to its exceptional overall condition and put maybe 50km on it at most since buying it from its previous owner in Austria.
You are also welcome to fly into Lisbon and view it and hear it in person before purchasing it. Airport transfer both ways is offered at no cost to seriously interested parties. We are only 40km away from Lisbon airport in Sintra which is always worth a visit.
