Mazda MX5 MK1 – 1. 6i Monaco UK Special Edition
Selling my low mileage MX5 MK1 1. 6i manual, which is a rare Monaco Limited Edition. This car is 1 of only 450 made in the UK, in exceptional condition and with zero rust or corrosion anywhere. Fresh MOT till May 2025, this car had extensive mechanical work done by its last owner over 5yrs including a fresh re-spray in British Racing Green. Genuine 66k low mileage, this model is equivalent to the Eunos V-Special import model, however, being UK spec it is much rarer to find and cheaper to insure.
The last owner did a full re-build of the suspension, including anti-roll bar links, discs and brake pads etc. Receipts and paperwork are included. Also a full engine service, new oil, coolant, water-pump, new battery etc. The car is now ready to drive and looks fantastic.
The Monaco edition model came with cream interior leather seats and door cards (no rips or tears), plus matching cream soft top from factory. Stainless steel style bar is fitted which really suits the car when the roof is down. Wooden Nardi Steering wheel and wood-effect trim on the interior are in fantastic condition, which also make the car feel luxurious with a classic look.
A stainless steel back box upgrade has been fitted to the exhaust that gives it a nice sound. All the tyres are in like new condition with full tread and fitted on the original Mazda alloy wheels.
Toad immobiliser installed for added security. The private style number plate ‘RSX 53M’ will be included with the car and I’ve had comments that its worth a few hundred pounds on its own if sold separately. Log book in-hand and shows 7 former keepers including me. No past accident damage and is HPI clear.
As the pictures show, the car presents in fantastic condition benefitting from all the mechanical work and recent full re-spray. The sills have also been welded previously, plus correctly treated with waxoyl to give the car a long life. There is zero rust on any of the sills or arches. It is very rare to find examples of MK1s in such clean and original condition.
The car drives perfectly; the engine pulls really strong with no hesitation or any unusual noises. The gearbox is nice and sharp with clean gear changes. Overall, this is a very clean and solid example of a MK1 which are only going up in value when found in such good condition.
