1984 Ford Escort 1. 3L
Good all round example of the Mk3.
Drives perfectly, new clutch, cambelt, and battery recently fitted. Comes with 12 months MOT.
Door shuts, roof guttering, battery tray, etc, all good. Only 3 owners from new, including myself - husband & wife, a collector, and then myself.
Sunburst red paint is dull in places but polishes up ok. It has usual light marks and scratches consummate with age, but nothing major, and arches etc are all good. Was previously an CAT N in 1998 for a damaged wing, and is recorded on the logbook as so. Given it was 25 years ago, it’s outlasted most cars already! Doesn’t affect the car in any way whatsoever.
Interior is excellent and still has the original Ford radio and 80s tape holder.
Not perfect, but a good running and driving car. Price reflects condition etc, and is a bargain for a 40 year old (soon to be MOT and tax exempt!) car. Lots of history - a whole folder full! - including some original tax discs, order form, bill of sale and a ‘thank you letter’ from the supplying dealer.
The Escort was in regular use until 2016, when the husband passed away, and then light use since. The family bought it from AbbeyFord, the local dealership only a few miles from home, and it has remained in Bury St Edmunds, or the nearby area, ever since. It still wares the original plates and wax proofed sticker. Very obviously, garaged, and much loved, with a low mileage of 91k over the last 40 years. The condition of the car is very good for a car of this age!
The car has another claim to fame - it featured in the 2021 ITV drama White House Farm. It has also been in a Bollywood film and a pop music video!
